My complaint:

I am a disabled combat veteran that does not drive and my means of transportation is by bus or bicycle. 2 months ago the maintenance man beat on my door yelling fire department wearing black coveralls on holding bolt cutters as I had my bike locked and chained up to the poles outside our doors. After claiming he was the fire department, he stated that if this was my bike that I had til the end of the day to either put my bike inside my room which I have no room for being it’s a trike, or else he would be forced to cut my chain and take my bike to the dumpster an throw it away. I asked where am I suppose to lock up my bike at being I couldn’t lock it around the pole anymore and he only shrugged telling me it wasn’t his call so he don’t know.

I asked if I could chain it to the tree, and was told no, that management does not want anymore bikes locked up or chained up outside our doors and that this was a fire hazard which clearly is not a fire hazard by no means as there is so much room on all sides of around the bike that anyone could easily walk around it in case of a fire, so he clearly was making this all up just as he claimed to be the fire department. As a disabled veteran, I have absolutely no way of locking up and securing my personal property outside so that it would not be stolen by someone at anytime given. This was over 2 months ago and still there are no bike racks for us to secure our transportation as there are bike lanes on both sides of Taylorsville road right outside the front of this business so they clearly know and see that this is our transportation. Nobody acts like they give a damn, management blows it off saying corporate will do something which I’m sure nobody has informed them of this situation. Maintenance men should not ever role play pretending to be fire department an threaten to throw people’s belongings into the dumpsters. We have no way or where to secure our bicycles and reading other complaints from this site, many complaints have been brought up dealing with an involving disabled individuals and somebody in corporate needs to sit down and look and investigate these situations dealing with people and disabilities and I know for fact I read 8 or 9 other complaints dealing with disabilities. It’s sad I fought for this country and went to war in a 3rd world country that is poor as can be, come back here to the United States and can’t even secure my transportation outside my room, that I currently live in because I am homeless. Thank you America!

Suggested solution:

Install bike racks or sections in the parking lots for us to secure our transportation and to take the people who are disabled more serious or prepare for lawsuits
