My complaint:

I was a victim of a scam and had $2,000 stolen from my bank account. When I contacted Green Dot about my issue I was offered no sympathy no empathy no nothing I was told that my only option was to close my account and wait on them to mail me a refund check for the entire amount that I had remaining in my account that was not stolen and I had to file a dispute to get back what was stolen. So I did the dispute and the money that was stolen was replaced back into my account so the refund check that they did cut for me was able to include that $2,000 that was stolen. My problem is I’ve had this account for 7 or 8 years so I’ve been with your company for a very long time and I found out that getting a refund check was not my only option I could have went to a store purchased another Green Dot card and they could have transferred my balance to the new Green Dot card so that way I still could have had access to my money. Or I also found out that I could have went to Walmart and picked up my $5,200 when the agent closed my account he could have had it sent there through a money transfer so that way I could have had access to my money. But no he just automatically closed my account and did it with requesting my money through refund check so here I am almost 3 weeks later still without my money. That’s a lot of money my entire life is on hold until I receive that money. Every penny that I had was in my bank account and I tried telling the agent that when I was speaking to him and he still didn’t care about me being able to have access to my funds and proceeded with what he was doing. Then to top it all off the cherry on the top is when they did finally mail out the check they didn’t even have the decency to overnight it which I found out is an option as well so since they chose the worst solution possible they could have at least tried to make it better by overnight and me my check but no here I am a week and 3 days after the date that they mailed it and I still have not received my damn money…. And every time I call I just get hung up on or transferred!!!!!

Suggested solution:

I am satisfied when I have $5,300 in my pocket... I would be satisfied if they canceled payment on that original check that they cut and allowed me to go to the store and get a Green Dot card and just put my money on a card... Or if they could cancel that check and mail another one today and overnight it priority shipping to my front door.. whatever needs to be done to make sure that if refunding to another greendot card right now in is not an option then be for damn sure that within 24 hours without a doubt my money will be in my pocket... And I would be happy if every agent that I spoke to throughout this whole ordeal no longer has a job.. every last one of them that I spoke to was horrible none of them had any sympathy or empathy regarding my situation none of them even did any kind of research to try to see what other options were available nobody tried to help me... most of them actually hung up on me..
