My complaint:
After arriving on my birthday with my husband on the 2nd of June for our ‘Tranquility Retreat’, we were greeted by drunk, loud wedding guests in the reception. To then be told that our room was not ready yet even though we had arrived after the 3pm check in time.
Whilst checking us in I asked about an upgrade that I had requested, the answer i got was ‘I don’t know,we have just changed your room so we can give you one now’ I then asked about walks around the grounds I was told again ‘I don’t know, ask in the golf shop’.
There were no other hotel guests other than the weeding party in site so the haste in which we were dealt with was unnecessary and very un-welcoming.
Our room was a ground floor terrace room with outdoor seating. We were unable to use the seating at all as the wedding party was right next to us and wedding guests were staying in rooms next to us so there was a constant stream of people outside our window. It got to a point we had to shut the curtains as people were sitting on our chairs and walking up and down on their phones.
We went to dinner which I cant fault. The food was amazing and the best part of my birthday.
We returned to the room to continue our Tranquility retreat to hear loud wedding guests and people making a lot of noise in the corridors. We were trapped in our room and couldn’t even have the curtains open to enjoy the view never mind sit on our terrace that I had paid extra for.
We checked out at 8.30pm just 5 hours after arriving. There was nothing Tranquil about our stay, it ruined my birthday and I feel wedding guests had priority of the staff and hotel space. This should be taken into consideration when advertising as a ‘Tranquility Retreat’
Suggested solution:
I would like a refund for my stay, breakfast and the extra money i paid for the room. I do not mind paying for dinner as that is the only thing we actually experienced in our ' tranquil retreat package'
