My complaint:
Worked my 9-5 that day as usual…. Pick up my kids go to my not so favorite food lion anymore on N.Main St. in Mooresville!! Normal shopper, I shop there every month when my foodstamps come even in between for items that I may need to replenish or just a stop for for children’s wantsneeds. I shopped for about an hour going up and down isles but I always keep my eyes and ears open. Self checkout is new at this store so of course different protocols, more security…
I get it BUT not one time did I come down a isle and see FOUR foodlion workers watching at any given time until it was time for me to checkout. I walk up to self checkout simply because they only had ONE regular lane running and I’m only 26 and real familiar with the newer technology so I figured having over $200 in grocery I wouldn’t tie up that lane for the elderly folks and people who may really just not know how to work the technology.
Seems that that was the wrong idea, as soon as I walked over to self checkout with my buggy .. I heard keys running from every which of way, I literally had a lady in front of me I had a guy some feet away but to the left of me as well as it was two younger guys who stood and watched me from behind… I know they were watching me because the two behind just casually conversating and playin around while watching me ring every item from my cart.
I let them do their job although I knew I hadn’t seen that many workers watching the self checkout as long as I had been shopping until I stepped foot up there with a big cart of groceries. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t do their job but IT DID NOT TAKE 4 people to watch 1 person no matter how big or small my cart was unless you think you’re pinpointing someone who’s stealing. I didn’t say anything but the whole time I’m really losing my cool because I Don’t steal why does it take 4 employees to watch me? like I previously stated the whole hour I shopped I didn’t see more tha!n 12 people watching that area. DISCRIMINATION AT ITS FINEST.
I finally said something once I rung my last item and workers started disappearing going other ways LOL!!!! Like huh all four or y’all literally just stood here and watched me til I rung up my last item. Mind you it’s still people at self checkout but they wasn’t worried about them, they was worried about me… the little black girl with 3 kids and a large load of groceries. I finally asked once I seen everybody move away from their positions, “ARE YALL WATCHING ME” I don’t appreciate shit like that at all especially when I’m coming to spend whatever I have in your store. That made me feel really uncomfortable and I wanted to show my ass for sure.
Thank goodness for growth because when I tell you that’s how people get hurt, I mean it. Had it been one person watching me just the same way it had been all night with the other folks… I would’ve never said a peep because that’s just a person doing their job but for me to literally watch 12 people at self checkout monitoring until I walk up, nope unacceptable!!! I don’t care how you put it. I don’t have names and I left that night after paying for my groceries for the sake of my freedom and the fact that I had my kids with me but I will be returning to get names because they will not get away with this. I’ve never been made any more uncomfortable.
Mind you the first night they got self checkout I came in purchased one item and it was one person on self checkout monitoring lol and she was one of the ones watching me, the one that also approached and he response was were just trying to make sure everyone knows how to work this section since it’s new but if you know I know what I’m doing why does it take 4 of y’all to watch me from near and far? They thought they had a little black young lady with kids who was about to steal… whole time I had a FOODSTAMP CARD lmao. DISCRIMINATION!!!!!!!

They shouldn’t.. I’ll be getting a lawyer.
