My complaint:
I called Fidelity to do a simple transaction that I need to pay my taxes properly and not have trouble with the IRS. I waited for almost 3 hours where I had a back and fourth with a phone representative who yelled at me and insulted me, making me cry. The phone representative said that in a call I made in March my voice sounded occasionally like a man (I am transitioning) and I was now speaking too slowly. They said they had suspicious about my account and were going to block my account. I attach a screenshot of the phone call that lasted almost 3 hours.
I went to the Fidely branch in person to show that it is me. They took my driver’s license and verified me. But they said they could not unblock my account. I was still being investigated. They gave me a phone number to call. I called and again was told that my account was blocked and there was nothing I could do.
I will potentially experience problems with the IRS because Fidelity decided to block my account unjustly. I already verified myself. I also explained repeatedly to the representative that I am not a man and showed them in person that it is me. This has been horrific experience.
Suggested solution:
unblocking my account and not questioning me if my voice sounds like a man. If I can prove it is me why do they need to question about my sexuality?
