My complaint:
The store, located in Rice, Texas, recently underwent a change in management. As a former employee, hired in late June with my current appearance (unnatural hair, facial piercings), I experienced a shift in policy under the new district manager. Last Saturday, I was instructed to either remove my piercings or replace them with clear ones.
I was promised a timeframe to comply, but upon the district manager’s visit, along with several managers and associates, including one from a Fairfield location, I was abruptly asked to leave my shift due to non-compliance with this new directive.I was initially hired by the store manager on June 29, 2023, as a cashier, with no objections to my appearance.
Interestingly, another employee at our store with visible piercings and tattoos has not been subjected to these changes. The district manager remarked on my appearance as unprofessional, contradicting the company’s policies, which do not explicitly prohibit visible piercings, tattoos, or unnatural hair colors.
Suggested solution:
I would like attitude towards me dealt with immediately or I will be filing a lawsuit for discrimination in the workplace.
