My complaint:

An Open Letter to Dominos: I attempted to order a couple of pizzas on my iPad from the Domino’s app (not the website). I was unsuccessful, and I am undoubtedly one of many people who left pizzas in their cart without purchasing. This is the first time I’ve used the app (and undoubtedly, the last). I have used your website on the Macintosh many times before without incident. The app was able to correctly glean my username and password information from my iCloud keychain, but when I went to order, it would not access my credit card information from there. This is something I’ve done several times in Safari on my Macintosh, but your app waits cluelessly while I have to dig my credit card out of my pocket and fill in the information. This is a huge error on your part. Since I was already most of the way through my order, I dug the credit card out and filled in all the information. I even clicked the button, allowing your system to remember the information. But when it came time to finalize the order, your system once again asked me for the credit card information, showing blank fields that I had just filled in. Even allowing your system to remember my credit card information did nothing for me. I would have to repeat all those steps again, leaving me to only hope that it worked this time. I opted to close the app and let you keep your pizzas today. I’m ordering, instead, from Taco Bell through the GrubHub app, which I have been using without problem for months. The problem with your app is not user error. I have been a web developer since the mid-1990s, and have built ecommerce systems much more complicated than what you’ve got going here. Your broken system is the result of laziness, lack of adequate testing or a combination of the two. In any case, if someone with my expertise in dealing with these systems can’t get a couple of pizzas ordered, how do you expect your other customers, who are much more naive in their usage of apps, to be able to do so reliably? Since I’m not out any money in this effort, I’m not asking for any money or freebies from you. I just wanted to let you know of my experience. (By the way, I find the Domino’s franchise in Miami to be very good. It’s just a shame your app won’t let me order from them.)

Suggested solution:

Improve andor test the app before siccing it on the public.
