My complaint:
To the management of Crunch Fitness Apollo Beach and Crunch Corporate Headquarters,
I am writing to formally call out what I — and many others — see as an unfair, predatory, and potentially unlawful cancellation process being enforced at your Apollo Beach location.
After being charged $160, I attempted to cancel my membership. Instead of assistance, I was told I would have to pay another $160 just to stop the billing, or — and I quote — “go to collections if you don’t like it.” This hostile response, paired with a lack of accessible support, is not just unprofessional — it may violate consumer protection laws at both the state and federal level.

⚖️ LAWS YOU MAY BE VIOLATING
1. Florida Health Studio Act (Florida Statute § 501.017)

• Making cancellation confusing, inaccessible, or retaliatory may breach this law.
2. Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA) (§ 501.204)
• Prohibits unfair, deceptive, or aggressive practices that harm consumers.
• Telling someone to “go to collections” for simply requesting cancellation may fall under this definition.
3. Federal Trade Commission “Click-to-Cancel” Rule (Effective May 14, 2025)
• If a membership can be started online, it must be cancellable online just as easily.
• Businesses cannot bury cancellation behind red tape, hidden terms, or demand in-person visits or mailed letters unless the sign-up required the same.

3. End the use of threatening language, harassment, and aggressive financial policies.
4. Train your team to handle cancellations with respect, transparency, and lawful procedures.

We, the community, deserve better. And we’re watching closely.

Suggested solution:
Cancelling my membership without charging me a predatory fee. Especially when I paid the full monthly fee just a week ago.
