My complaint:
On August 6 seven of my neighbors and I woke up to various forms of damage to our home.
Ranging from garage door opener is no longer working, alarm systems, AC, refrigerators, microwaves, washers, and dryers, and issues with our breaker box
Around 9:30 AM someone that was fixing the issue, called us to let us know that a prior person working on the transformer that powered our seven homes was negligent and not replacing the screw which caused a massive power surge into our homes.
I’m fast forwarding a week later deMonte Harrison with centerpoint energy claims, said to me today that he would not be helping at all, because there is a tariff in the state of Texas that protects them from power surges, and makes centerpoint energy not responsible at all.
My breaker box has been damaged by the surge. So when my air conditioner caught fire from the surge, going through the lines and my dryer, not working any longer, it did not flip the breaker switch on either item.
Demonte Harrison with centerpoint energy sent out a crew to look at my breaker box, and they admitted damage was done to my box, but that they were not responsible because they consider a breaker box a customers property. And even though they admit that they caused the issue. They are not responsible for fixing it..
The seven of us in this transformer box issue have thousands of dollars worth of damage done to our homes in Centerpoint is unwilling to fix it.
Suggested solution:
Since this was done out of negligence by not putting a screw back to me, this is different than just some minor fluctuation that happens within a power system. My neighbor tape recorded the conversation with the initial technician that admitted that it was Centerpoint’s fault so Centerpoint should reimburse us
