My complaint:

There are very common pop-up advertisements for a small room heater named ‘Ecoheat’, allegedly newly developed. These advertisements for Ecoheat make a seriously misleading claim that the advertised electric heater can heat rooms for a very much lower cost than other electrical heaters. This is factually incorrect: a certain amount of electric energy always produces the same amount of heat energy. Any advertisement that relies on contradicting that scientific fact is misleading and dishonest. This subject is always important, but especially now, with the high cost of energy and inflation leading people to worry about heating their homes, and to search for cheaper ways of doing so.
If YouTube continues to publish these advertisements it is distributing a harmful lie, which can mislead viewers into paying for a product which cannot possibly do what is claimed. This is criminally dishonest, and harmful to both YouTube and its viewers.

Suggested solution:

Remove these misleading advertisements from YouTube videos.
Make clear to the Ecoheat firm why you are doing this, and the nature of the misdemeanour they have been committing, i.e. the lie they have been telling to millions of Youtube viewers.
Write to me at martin@mpwilkinson.co.uk to say that you have done so.
