My complaint:
Julie and the Phantoms is a G rated tween Highschool music series….that features a very obvious gay romance story line. I’m not asking this be censored-I’m all for free speech and artistic expression. However, if there are overt homosexual themes in a show it needs to be PG-13. Now I have to explain to my 7yo daughter why we can’t finish watching the season. Themes such as sexuality and variant sexuality are something that parents should choose when to discuss with their children-not network execs. This show is a blatant attempt at gay pedagogy. If it had had a PG-13 rating for “sexual themes” I wouldn’t have let my kids watch it. Any sexual theme, and in particular a controversial one needs something other than a G rating.
Suggested solution:
Change rating on this show to PG13 or leave characters sexuality ambiguous
