My complaint:
The George county correctional facility located in Lucedale, MS only allows the state side to have visitors since covid. They do not offer it for the county side. They offer free face-time calls at the facility on Saturdays for 15mins. I live an hour away and its not worth to drive all that way for a 15min tablet visit with gas prices as high as they are. I have a City tele coin has FaceTime tablet visits any day or time but cost $8 for 15min and most of the time the app has problems kicks you out the call lost connection and you still get charged and is a pain to get a refund and as of April 2021 I have spent $8200 in phone calls facetime with this facility. They say they dont have the room for both sides to have visitors but the state gets them every Saturday. They cant let the county side have one Saturday a month. What do people do who cant afford the facetime fee cause its ridiculous and unfair. I have made several complaints to the facility and the sheriffs office and nothing gets answered, a call back or response to my emails I have written to the the sheriffs office as well. No one can answer a question and they all say some half ass that does not make sense. My fiancé is waiting to be transferred to CMCF but we dont know when that will be and its been a year he has been in the county side and no outside, covid vaccines or visits. I have sent the news an email to maybe help me get answers and contacted the governors office. THEY ARE MENTALLY MESSING WITH INMATES THAT CANT SEE OR TALK TO FAMILY MEMBERS AND HAVE INMATES ON PALLETS ON THE FLOOR CAUSE THERE ARE NO BEDS! Someone needs to do something
Suggested solution:
Give them outside time, allow the to have at least one Saturday a month for visits. Transfer inmates out. That are waiting to go to CMCF so inmate’s are not sleeping on the floor.
