My complaint:

I went into this Jewel on 31121 at 1:02 pm. I have been going to this Jewel for over 20 yrs. When I entered at the door by the deli, I saw they had cooked roasted chicken (perfect for lunch for the grandkids). I asked the lady stocking the deli if the roasted chicken could be purchased as a meal with sides? She said yes but I needed to take it to the deli counter to make a meal. I went to the deli counter and the lady behind the counter asked what sides I wanted — I told her mashed potatoes and gravy so she told the other lady of on the floor to bring her one of already made mashed potatoes and gravy. She then saw I had macaroni salad on the top of my cart and asked me if I wanted to include it in the meal, I said sure and she took the macaroni salad along with one package of rolls and put them in the paper chicken meal bag and then typed a price label and told me it was on the bottom of the bag. I took it. Finished my shopping and then went to check out counter. According to the receipt, my cashier was Dawn. When she saw I had roasted chicken, she called the Deli and said I could not purchase roasted chicken as a meal. At this point, it was becoming a scene in the store, holding up the line, and making me feel like I must have done something wrong like putting items in the bag that were not suppose to be there. I was humiliated. Never before in 20 yrs had I ever been treated as such. This other lady came down and wanted to know whom I had talked to in the deli. I told her I had not asked anyone for their names and did not know who I had talked to — but had dealt with two different ladies, one on the floor and one behind the counter. At this point, as I was in a hurry and had to pickup my granddaughter, that I just told them to remove it from my groceries. The third lady from the deli asked me if I wanted to come back to deli and show her who I had talked to. I told her no and left the store.

Once I had gotten my granddaughter, I went to the Jewel at 199 Brookforest, Shorewood and went to their deli. Once again I took a roasted chicken to the deli counter and they showed me the sign showing what a roasted chicken dinner would cost. They gave me mashed potatoes and gravy and macaroni salad, rolls. The only difference in the sides is that they took the sides directly from the deli food on display. No problem. All was well her.

Suggested solution:

I want this cashier, Dawn, disciplined and to receive training on the proper way to treat your customers or you will not have customers to mistreat. This lady was rude, ignorant, and created a scene. I will never go back to this store again. I will do my shopping at Marianos and the Jewel in Shorewood. I have attached copies of both receipts so you can see what I am telling you was true.
