My complaint:
My wife and I had H R Block do our taxes this year as they were more complicated due to a move we made. The agent here in Laurel MT rescheduled us once but eventually called us in to sign the taxes. We had to pay Federal and the new State taxes but were getting a refund from our old state. The refund was enough to cover all that we owed to the other state and the Feds. When we got our refund it was $2000.00 less that we were told it would be. We called the HR Block rep here that did our taxes and she said she would look into it. A week later she had her Secretary call and tell us she had made a mistake and there was nothing she could do. The agent would not talk to us herself. Without the refund we would not be able to cover the other taxes right away and asked if we could set up payments but the agent, through her secretary, stated we would have to stop payment with our bank which is another charge on top of the $360 we paid HR Block to do our taxes. On top of that they will not tell us what they messed up on nor will they provide us with copies of the updated tax forms. We tried to call the office the secretary stated was in charge in Billing MT but they won’t return our call.
Suggested solution:
Their folder that they gave us with our tax documents in it (the ones with the mistakes) says WE SIGN AND STAND BEHIND EVERY RETURN WE PREPARE. 100% SATISFACTION, 100% ACCURACY.
Obviously it wasn't accurate and we are satisfied. At the least I believe they need to pay any fees we occurred because of their mistake. I would like to get my payment to them refunded due the taxes not being accurate. Finally we need the corrected tax forms for our records.
