Hilton Hotels complaint: Booked direct and went to Thailand?

My complaint:

Booked a room and paid in advance for a medical conference at this hotel. Medical conference was cancelled. The hotel refused to refund my reservation saying I had booked through a 3rd party when in fact I had booked through their website. Nothing but runaround since then.

Suggested solution:

refund the amount I paid for a conference that never happened.
