My complaint:
I received deposit of my stimulus check from the IRS to an account with Green Dot that I no longer use. I called green dot and explained the issue to them and asked for a new card cause i had misplaced my other card. They agreed to send a new card but to an address that is associated with the card and I stated to them that I hadn’t lived there in almost 2 years. I asked them if they could send it to my current address that is on the on the other 2 cards I have with them. They stated I needed to verify my identity with them by sending them a picture of my ID and a current bill associated with that address which I immediately did. I received conformation 48 hours later stating my address update had been updated and verified and I could request a new card for that account to my new address. So I called green dot and made that request and was told the account had been closed and there was never a deposit to that account. So after hanging up I filed a complaint with BBB and approximately 13 days later green dot supervisor called me and apologized and said the were going to resolve the matter but they needed to request an update address change with records department and i stated to her that all that had been done and i had the claim number to the update along with the email. She stated she was going to look into it and call me back. That was approximately 2 weeks ago and still nothing. This has been going on for almost 3 months now. My next and final step is a class action lawsuit.
Suggested solution:
Issue me a new card associated with the account to where my stimulus check was deposited and send that card to my updated address which was approved and ed. Also I dont expect them to try and say well you owe us service fees on the card and try and take it out of my account. Also they need to be held responsible for what they make people go thru about their accounts if it takes someone being fired than so be it.
