I am a Maine Attorney ( Maine Bar 8852 ) and purchased for my wife a prepaid credit card for $300 a part of her anniversary present. In her efforts to use the card, it was demanded that she provide her social security number, which she reluctantly did. On Saturday, 952020, I tried to remedy the situation on line. All communication efforts resulted in my failure to speak to an individual without providing further credit card information which I refused to do,
Please have someone call me to cancel whatever contract you feel you have. You can make the cancellation subject to my wife’s affirmative statement as well as my furnishing a copy of the Durable Power of Attorney. Otherwise, my wife will be impressed by the litigation which will follow including a Motion for counsel fees pursuant to Maine Rules of Civil Procedure Rule 11(a ) for a frivolous attempt at garnishing money from an elder person . Suggested solution:
Cancel the relationship and return her $300 ( which was the gift ) and cancel her credit card.
