My complaint:
On 16 Feb 2022, at about 8am, i went to Blk 829 Tampines GIANT to purchase a bottle of mixed nuts (meadow brand). I made the payment at the cashier without looking at the expiry date.
After making the payment, i made a check at the back of the purchased bottle at home and discovered the expiry date was 20.11.2021. It did not stated whether it is the date of expiry of manufacturing date.
At about 3pm, i made my way down to the same store and approached one of the staffs – young malay staff wearing tudung. I believed her name is Mila. I told her about the situation nicely but she was unhappy and told me that the date was the manufacturing date, She shouted in front of the customers and told me Uncle, next time read properly before you come here. This is the expiry date. Her tone used was rude.
I decided to the go to the same shelve to take another bottle and discovered one of the bottles expire on 22.05.2022. I told her that that the date labelled must not be the manufacturing date as the month of May is yet to come. She did not reply anything and walked off.
After a while, the manager came and talked to me politely and apologised on the behalf of her.
My concern over this incident is the safety of another customers purchasing expired products and being informed falsely by such staffs. False information can lead to dire situation such as food poisoning etc if consume expired products.
Suggested solution:
Please take action against the said staff. Such unprofessional service should be condoned. I would like to have an update on the matter please. Thank you.
