My complaint:
I use my online banking service with my checking account, using my license plate as my account number and adding the invoice number in the check memo section. This company continually refuses to accept payment this way, maybe because they don’t get the payment slip they want sent. They have cashed my checks only to send me a violation notice anyway.
This time around they apparently have not cashed my check, though it was sent well before any due date. I believe their goal is to prevent me from saving the costs of mailing, etc. and force me to keep my credit card on file with them, establishing an account.
This might be okay for those regularly using the bridges, but I use them maybe two or three times a year, give or take. I’ll be damned before I let any company as loose as this have my credit card number even for one transaction.
I’m curious if this company is doing this to others smart enough to pay online: no driving to get stamps or to mail; no cost for checks; etc. I believe I have the legal right to pay these folks this way, but they don’t seem to like it.
Suggested solution:
They should adapt their system to accept checks by mail or online, even if no payment slip they originally sent is included, as long as they have the info. on the check they need.
