Econo Lodge complaint: Room had roaches and bed bugs and then took my deposit

My complaint:

I rented a room through Expedia for April 19th through 20th but then asked to move it to April 6th through 7th. Initially, I requested a non-smoking room but upon arrival, I changed my request to a smoking room. However, I was not informed that smoking in the room was prohibited nor was I told that the premises were non-smoking. Upon checking out and attempting to retrieve my deposit, the staff member checked the room, returned, and inquired if I had smoked in the room. Additionally, upon check-in, I was shorted $10. The staff member handed me folded money without counting it out. After discovering the discrepancy, my husband went to the front desk and the issue was resolved without any problem.

In the morning, I was informed that my deposit would not be returned due to smoking in the room, even though I was never informed it was a non-smoking premises. Additionally, the room conditions were unsatisfactory, with the presence of roaches, only one towel provided, and unclean floors. I was also denied access to my room after checking out, despite having paid until 11:00 a.m. After requesting to speak with a manager, I was told that none would be available until the following day. My rights have been violated, and I would appreciate a callback.

Suggested solution:

I should have access to my room till 11 am and I should not be denied my deposit because I smoked a cigarette in the room I wasn\'t told not to smoke in the room
