My complaint:

When I went inside to get a drink and snacks for a road trip, a younger guy in training by an older thin woman was my cashier. I paid with debit card and they asked if I had a rewards card. I said no I don’t have it on me and the older woman told the boy to go ahead and scan one now and he reached over and grabbed a rewards card and scanned it. I said that’s not my reward card, who’s card are you scanning? She told me it’s a blank card to give me a discount. It then shut the system down so she told him this is why we usually only do it for cash payments. They had to cancel the whole transaction and start over and then he tried scanning the supposed blank card he pulled from the computer again not from the stack of new cards. It went through but as I was leaving I heard her say put a sticker on your card so you know it’s yours.

Suggested solution:

This is a form of theft and could be a type of fraud. This is abusing the system and trying to scam people of the rewards system to use for themselves. This has happened more than once. I think someone from corporate or hired by corporate should come in randomly, different times throughout a week or 2 week time and get purchases without a rewards card and then with using a rewards card and see what they do... Then they need to pay a fine and get some education and training on how to be a decent respectful person. I don't believe in getting people fired for being scum but if we as a society continue letting the little scams go on then we are contributing to the menaces in society making it harder on everyone else. This is a form of theft and who's to say these little lies and steals here and there aren't going to lead to bigger thefts of stealing the company's inventory or directly from cash register.
