Complaint: Staff needs training…customer service…coupon policy

My complaint:

My family has been DG customers for years…My husband went to DG this evening to pick up several items…cat litter none in stock, 3-4 packs of miniature candy bars, Dunkin Donuts Drinks, and Powerade…I sent a $5 DG Store coupon that I earned for purchasing $15 worth of PG products and it did not expire until 5222021…the cashier name was Val and she told my husband that he could not use the coupon except for on Saturdays…but it was not a $5 off of $25 Saturday coupon…it was a DG Store coupon…this has been the third or fourth incident of her trying to not let us use our coupons…I called the store when my husband got home and told me that she wouldn’t let him use our coupon…because she evidently has not been trained on accepting coupons and does not know about your digital couponsrewards program for customers (even though she has been there long enough to know what to do)…and I spoke to her first because she answered the phone and I said a few choice words (sorry but I was mad) and then I ask to speak to a manager and Joe was put on the phone…I explained the issue and he said he would need to see the coupon and I said I am not coming out again tonight…he kept asking me what can he do tonight…I said you can train her tonight so she knows what she is doing…she needs training so she knows the difference in $5 off of $25 Saturday coupons and DG store coupons for $5 that a customer has earned by making $15 worth of PG purchases…I am making a complaint because this is not the first time she has done something like this dealing with coupons…several other times Eddie (manager) has been called up front to take care of it and finish her job.

My Pastor and I usually stop at your store at 1800 western ave before continuing on to church. We stopped at your store at 1800 wester ave. The clerk never greeted us. My Pastor tried to engage him in polite conversation and got NO RESPONSE from the employee on duty. My Pastor asked him could he talk. Again no response. I’ve noticed there seems to be a constant turnover at this store. We’ve always been treated well until today by this employee. This needs to be addressed and the unfriendly employee dismissed!!
