My complaint:
Received recorded phone call saying my gas service was to be disconnected. I checked my bank account and verified that payment had been sent weeks before the deadline (as it has been for 3 years). I called CenterPoint customer service and waited on-hold for over 30 minutes, and no one ever answered.
Suggested solution:
Based on what I've seen (and read) about CenterPoint's incredibly poor customer service, it appears that CenterPoint is not going to fix the problem. My next step will be to contact the state regulatory authorities and file a formal complaint. Maybe then CP might wake up and fix their internal problems.
