My complaint:
Clarksburg High School played Dresden High School on November 23, 2021. Before the game, we heard the new announcement about sportsmanship. I understand that tensions run high and fans will contest calls, but the student body of that school were borderline bullies. The announcement is being played and ignored. They openly booed in the stands, and that was kind of embarrassing for the school all by itself, but they also heckled and made fun of a particular kid on our boys team. They called his number out, and only his number, EVERY TIME HE MESSED UP. Only him. It was open season for bullies, and not once was it addressed. Not by the officials, and not by one member of the Dresden High School faculty. It was a form of bullying and was sickening to witness. And while they are bearing us by 30 points, they couldn’t be gracious winners. The boys team chest bumped and were cocky to our coach while on the floor while the student body heckled 30 on our team. But when one of our cheerleaders yelled, “Foul!”, she was reprimanded by a referee. He told her that he could kick her out of the gym and get her pet mantle kicked off her cheer team if she said one more word….ALL THE WHILE THE DRESDEN STUDENT BODY IS BOOING AND HECKLING A KID FOR BEING SMALL. It was a disgrace and their school needs to address this problem. A blind eye was turned to outward bullying. I don’t believe they care about your sportsmanship announcement.
Suggested solution:
I can’t answer that. If I were the principal or superintendent I would be at every game and when it got out of hand, and down right TACKY with bullying the opposing team they are beating, and I would put a stop to it. Fine them? Send them a warning? I don’t know what you do but it was pitiful how even the referees let that poor boy get made fun of at a public event like it was ok.
