My complaint:
My name is ***, I am a customer who is currently staying at the Shore Hotel (62719-7219) here visiting from New York City. Last night 629, my 21 year old son and I returned from having Dinner on the Pier (Bubba Gump), it happened to be very nice out so we decided to sit by the pool area, maybe 5 min after I sat down and my son returned to the pier for a min, a security guard **** (her name was given to me by the Manager on duty at the time approaches me and ask if I “am a customer at the hotel!” I answered “yes” security officer **** then presumed to ask “what was my name and my room number?” I in returned asked security officer ***** why was she targeting me? After our encounter, I watched officer security officer **** return to the back of the counter area that is closed off, same exact place she came from! All of the other patrons that walked in the hotel right after me and during the incident were not questioned!! But all of them were of another ethnicity!!! Earlier in the day a local union 11 was outside picketing for the illegal disparity treatment to employees, you would think the brothers who own the establishment as as other businesses would have a hand in the hiring process of their staff!!! I attempted to speak with **** the manager who was no help at all and appeared to be very condescending towards me! My son and I have left and entered in and out of the hotel several times and were not questioned by any of the security officers, we were greeted by the counter staff, so I am appalled and disgusted by this behavior! If there are rules, than all rules should apply to EVERYONE!! In which security officer **** did not display!! I am a NYC Officer, so I understand being security minded at all times, but not only African Americans commit crime, other nationalities do as well!!! I have decided to reach out to you and everyone else who will listen to this so that this racially profiled treatment does not happen to anyone else!! I now fear for my young black son who is actually staying with me at the hotel!
