My complaint:

Around 9:27pm the machine declined my card payment to get on the bus even though there was money in my bank and I had used it a few hours prior to get the bus into work. After rummaging through my bag for loose change I was short by 20p and was becoming distressed and the bus driver did nothing to help. I asked if there was another bus close behind to which he appeared annoyed and simply stated ‘i don’t know’. I was humiliated to have to get off the bus as it had a good amount of people on it who were looking and some laughing.

I suffer with mental health and anxiety and this distressed me even more. I had to get off the bus and it was late at night and I had just finished work. I became stressed in the street thinking I would be stranded in the city centre as I was 20p short for a bus journey I could afford on my card if the machine worked. Due to the stress this caused me extreme anxiety and I became upset in public. I had to call my mother who paid a taxi home which cost £21. This is money that I don’t have during these hard times and I could have done without the glares of the bus driver and some more assistance.
