My complaint:
Our dogs were dropped off at the humane society by a dog boarding company who apparently had to open up two spots for regular customers during the hunting season. After our dogs were brought there while we were away on a family emergency, we learned of our dogs being at the humane society. The day after returning home we went down there in an attempt to pick our animals up, and got there to find out that they wanted $170 to pick up each dog. We had $100 to our name and they wouldnt release the dogs to us and stated the only way they would work out a payment plan with us is if we altered our dogs before they left. That way they could charge us than for the spaying of our one dog , (although they stated both ) they apparently couldnt tell our other dog was fixed already , had to be altered they were basically bribing us to get our dogs fixed simply so they could charge us the extra money. We told them no dont touch our dogs, and they told us that if thats the case it is now over $400 and adding up an extra $30 per dog each day. Knowing that we couldnt afford to get our dogs out at this point they turned down our offer to volunteer there to work off the debt to get our dogs back, so here we are $70 short on the first attempt to obtain our dogs and they refuse to work with us, so they try to force us to fix our dogs or else they wont do a payment plan. We cant afford for them to fix them and dont feel it is up to them to do so especially forcing us into a situation that they would be the ones to make a decision to spay our dogs: , my father in law starts talking with them telling them that his social security check comes in 10 days and he will pay to get them back, and they dont respond , now we see the price going up and up and decide to contact an attorney and 2 days after they took back the offer of payment arrangements entirely , and mind you that every email they are threatening to euthanise our dogs ,and stated they now need over $600 to get our dogs paid in full. As we were waiting hoping the attorney brings the bribing to force us to fix our dogs, we tell them DO NOT PERFORM SURGERY ON OUR DOGS AND ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PUT THEM OUT FOR ADOPTION until we get this sorted out. That next day our oldest dog is nowhwere to be found on their website , but our other dog had been now spayed and put out for adoption. Now we are scared that they have murdered our other dog, they refuse to work with us in a way that. Would put our pets within reach realistically for us , they have intentionally done the exact things we told them to absolutely not do, and have euthanised our other beloved pet and we have no means of getting them back and it was all done on purpose, to force our pets to be either given away pr murdered. DO NOT EVER DONATE, ADOPT, OR DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE PIKES PEAK REGION. THEY WILL SCAM YOU, STEAL FROM YOU AND CRUSH YOUR LITTLE KIDS HEARTS AND SOULS AND THEY WILL DO EXACTLY WHAT YOU TELL THEM NOT TO AND YOU WILL END UP DEVISTATED AND WITH NO PETS AT ALL. TRY EXPLAINING THAT ONE TO YOUR KIDS.
Suggested solution:
The desired solution i would expect and hope for, is a reasonable solution to pay the outrageous unwanted debt back by payment arrangements and or possibly volunteering to help pay part or all of the debt. The facility and its employees respect our decision to not spay our animals and do everything they can do to actually help us get our pets back. As we didnt want them there to begin with and had already made arrangements with a boarding kennel and paid them $1000to hold our pets until we returned, it wasnt fast enough and he was worried about losing business to a couple regular customers so chose to bring our dogs to the humane society and drop them off . We should have had , more opportunities and options to obtain our pets back especially given the situation its not like the dog catcher picked them up for running without supervision on the street, also maybe sympathise with the customer and do what you can above and beyond to help.the customer get their pets back.
