My complaint:

My husband and I were trying to get a safe home for us. I’m disabled and have to use a power chair and wheel chair. I sleep in a hospital bed and my husband is in a regular bed but is on a cpap machine. My husband works very hard and I keep our apartment clean and organized. We both grew up in bad apartments and in bad neighborhoods. All we ever wanted was a place to call our own. We filled out a application for habitat for humanity and did all the paperwork. They called and said that everything was going well and soon they came to our apartment for the next step in the process. We were so excited about it going forward so quickly. At the meeting we answered all the questions they had asked and they said that it’s looking good. The question about credit history popped up and we explained that our credit score was not the best and they said they could work on that with us. They said they would contact us after the new year and let us know what the next step will be. Three days before Christmas we got a letter saying that our credit sucked and that we can’t get our home. I was under the impression that the habitat for humanity program helped people who could not afford to get a home on their own would be able to with this program. They said that we were not going to get our dream because we didn’t have the money and credit for their program well if you have the money and credit you wouldn’t have to go through the program you could get a home on your own. They led us to believe that we were going to be able to do this but then sent a letter saying that it isn’t ever going to happen and they did it 3 days before Christmas. They didn’t call and explain to us anything about the decision. Not only did they crush our dream of being able to get a safe and efficient and much needed home they ruined our holiday. How can we enjoy the holidays after getting that letter and bad news. They need to tell people in their TV commercials and signs that they only help those with money and perfect credit history. I’ve lost all respect for the program and I feel very discriminated against because we’re not perfect. The whole program is bogus and I will make sure that people know how they really work their program. I’m never going to donate to anything involving the program. Thanks for killing my happiness and dreams this has really opened my eyes to how hurtful these people can be.

Suggested solution:

They need to be more careful with the information that they have about how the program works and remember that people have hopes and dreams for a happy and safe home of their own and to say your not going to be happy because you don\'t have their perfect money bracket and credit history requirements is very hurtful and just not right and very unprofessional. And thanks for ruining my holidays. I\'m never going to trust your program again and I hope you can sleep at night knowing that you totally crushed any hope of us being in a place that would be better for our handicapped needs and our safety.
