My complaint:

I’m filing this complaint due to the nature of harassment. On Friday, October 27th, 2023, I walked inside the Grants Supermarket in Bluewell, West Virginia with my Significant other to purchase 4 6 pks of soda and 1 Box of Jiffy Cornbread mix. While my Significant other went to pay for those items I went to their Rest Room to use it. While I was in the Rest Room I had one or more customers/employees come to knock on the Rest Room door.

l spoke up and said ,Yes! Someone is in here. A couple minutes went by and this time the same person or a different person comes and bangs on the door loudly as if they were rushing me out the Rest Room or something. And again I spoke up and said, Someone is in here, I’ll be out in a minute As I walked out the Rest Room I saw a Gentleman standing there by the women’s Rest Room door as if he was waiting to use the Women’s Rest Room when the Men’s Rest Room was available and unoccupied at that time.As I was walking away the gentleman walked in the Women’s Rest Room and shut and locked the door behind him. (That’s the First Complaint I have. By rudely Banging on the door , not once but twice after being told nicely that It was being occupied at that moment).

Secondly….. As I was walking down one of the isles I stopped to look at the Dollar Zone items that is cheap for a dollar or 4 for $5 items. I was looking at the Doggie Toys and Doggie items deciding which toy I was wanting to purchase and when I decided on what I wanted to get, I opened up my purse to grab my wallet out to count my change I had hoping I had enough to purchase that doggie toy, an employee walks by as if he was looking for me or seeing where and what I was doing, and next thing I know I hear over the intercom, Please rotate security camera’s. I just knew right then and there that announcement was about me. Because it just seems too coincidental that employee walks by me, See’s me open my purse to look for the exact change I needed for that item then rotate security camera’s soon after.

I feel that I was targeted as soon as I walked in the supermarket, was being watched the whole time I was in there, rushed out of the Women’s Rest Room, And being accused or having the assumption that I was shoplifting. This isn’t the first or second time this has happened to me at this Supermarket. This is the first time I’ve made a complaint about it. I feel like I’m being treated unfairly, picked on, assuming wrongful things about me, and judged as a outcast or someone who they think as a shoplifter or what have you. I’ve never gave them any reason or any doubt that I’m shoplifting or taking anything from this store without paying for it.

This is where I usually grocery shop several times a month and have been ever since they bought the building and moved in it several years ago. I don’t feel comfortable anymore shopping there or walking inside without being judged or targeted for that matter.

Suggested solution:

Tell them how they are treating me or their customer and offer at least an apology if not anything else. I really want it to stop to be honest and don\'t want to take further action.
