My complaint:

It’s been almost a month now that I have been in this process of opening an International Banking account – I understand as international dealings take time. But what is not acceptable is how the Canada International Banking Team is handling things.

I have been asked to come to the branch to sign the documents for account opening. I obliged and came immediately after. One week later, I called again just to the status as I have not heard back from anyone about it and only to find out that I had to come back to the branch once again to re-do my signatures (I was not given a reason why). Nobody has reached out to me to inform me of this – not by email, not by phone. I had to call and find out for myself – A WEEK LATER.

I of course went back right away as I would like to get this over and done with. The next day, just to make sure that what happened to me before would not happen again, I tried to call International Banking. I was trying to make sure everything was done right this time and that it is actually now on process.

As I am writing this, it is already 3:47:49 seconds that I have been on the line trying to speak to somebody about it. This is just very unacceptable! How you do expect that we have 4 hours of our time to be following up with you when instead it should be the other way around?

Unresponsive via email and phone call. Downright very unprofessional. I am extremely unhappy with the service I have received so far.

Suggested solution:

To start, I believe that a customer should not be waiting for at least 4 hours to get a hold of your International Banking Team. That just shows how little you value our time. It's frankly very insulting.

Secondly, a customer should not be asked to come back multiple times to your branch for an error that your team made. Again, circling back to HSBC not being respectful of our time.
