I received my monthly disability payment on my direct Express Card on April 2nd. Before I could even get access to my money they froze my card. They said they were being precautious against fraudulent transactions. This was a brand new card I never even had the opportunity to make a transaction I have not been able to touch one penny of my own money. I tried several times to call customer service often I was put on hold for 2 to 3 hours then when I finally talked to someone they said they got it straightened out I’d go to use my card and it would decline the transaction. It didn’t matter if I tried to use an ATM if I tried to do a point of sale at a store if I tried to transfer my money out of that into another application like chime or or Google pay or PayPal, it didn’t matter if I tried to get cash off of my card at a Walmart it didn’t matter what I did I cannot touch one penny of my money. I live off of $803 a month that’s it that’s less than $10,000 a year I need that money I have utilities that are being threatened to be shut off, and if they do get shut off I will have to pay a penalty fee, and all this is at no fault of my own, my money is being held hostage by direct Express!!! I’ve talked to them several times nothing ever gets resolved I still don’t have access to any of my money !! The people that direct Express sound or seem to me to be annoyed that I keep calling them. Annoyed doesn’t even begin to cover how I feel I don’t have access to my money, I already have difficulties making $803 last a whole month. I think that they should have turned my case over to someone higher up that can push it through that can verify that I am who I say I am and give me access to my money.
They should turn my case over to someone higher up that actually can do something and has a say in this and they should unlock my card so that I have access to it again I reiterate that this was at no fault of my own any of this!!
